The poble goes néixer to redós of the seu castell of Vallverd, which apareix per the first vegada amb the nonm of Bufalla l'any 1073.
The castell i lloc fou comprat in 1306 per l'orde of l'Hospital, that the tingué fins to l'acabament of them senyories. Fer Els hospitalers hagueren facing them pretensions dels castlans, els Biure, which in reivindicaren diverses vegades, pledejant against l'orde, the whole jurisdicció.
Tingué ajuntament propi fins 1880, which passà to be a Montbrió district. From 1931 to 1939 recuperà of nou l'ajuntament.
L'església is pot to visit; More of the Cogul, of propietat private road, conserve també faces a chapel in the seu recinte. (ftes i photos to see links of the card)
